My children are freaks about the magic staircase - aka the pull down ladder that goes to the attic. They all try to climb - only Zoey and Oliver have ever made it to the top. The other kitties have tried. Clooney the ferret has tried. Even Emma has tried. Nigel - doesn't care much what happens with the magic staircase so he doesn't really count.
I am amazed at how adept the cats are at climbing the ladder - the rungs are pretty far apart. They have the same reaction to the step ladder. Let me just say that when you are on the top step changing a light bulb it is not all that helpful to have Oliver and Zoey on the top step with you, Phoebe on the second step and Emma waiting at the bottom - such lovely helpers.
For the record - the critters are not allowed in the attic - insulation for them to get in to and way to hot for them. They end up getting closed in the bedroom while attic activities occur. They when they are freed Oliver sits in the hallway looking at the door - willing it to open.

Doors, Doors, Doors
Remember Monster's Inc when they go into the door storage area and there are a gazillion doors on conveyor belts? Phoebe would LOVE that. She is door obsessed.
We have things hanging on almost every door in the house because Phoebe either closes herself in or out - resulting in her wailing on whatever side of the door she ends up on. She pokes her feet under and is generally pathetic. Not sure what her thing is with doors - she shuts them by standing on her back feet and using her front feet to push them, or by rubbing up against them, or by flopping down and moving the door with her back feet.
She truly cannot stand for any doors to be closed either - especially if there is someone on the other side.

Nigel's Cage Setup
So - I have posted several times about Nigel's cage and how he likes it set up the same way every time - but I have never really gone into detail about what that set up looks like:
If facing the cage this is the left side with his big blue wheel, his water dish and his litter box
This is the right side with his bear blanket folded up - and you can barely see it but he does love sleeping with his stuffed hedgehog
His food bowl goes right below the door
As for his big blue wheel - it is too big to fit easily through the cage door so it has to be forced and I noticed a crack starting so there may be a new big blue wheel in Nigel's future.

Treat-aloo
Clooney got his new igloo today - its to be used for giving him is Ferretone without Mr Ornery Kitty Oliver licking it up like the little piggy he is. I tried out the treat-aloo today and it was quite entertaining. Doesn't take Mr. Ferret very long to catch on to things - so in the igloo he went. He licked up his Ferretone only to press his cute little ferret face up against the side of the igloo to beg for his stick.
Now - usually he takes his stick in the laundry room where he is safe from thieves. Today he ate his stick in his igloo - taunting Oliver with it. I think he likes his new little spot....

Delivery is the Way To Go!
Last week I posted about signing up for Petco delivery of pet supplies. I gotta say - this rocks! FedEx guy showed up on my porch this morning with litter for Nigel, food for kitties, Ferretone for Clooney, worms for Nigel, sticks for Clooney and pet igloos for Clooney and Nigel so they can eat in peace without the kitties stealing a nibble. I wasn't even outta my jammies and the pet shopping chore was done - love it! For $5 in shipping its well worth saving the time of driving and shopping.

August - UGH!
Really - I know I say this at the beginning of every month but how, HOW did it get to be the start of August? This means time to start thinking about holiday planning, Christmas shopping, etc. As far as the babies go - they don't seem to care that the time just whizzes by - its just another day for them, stress free and full of sleep, play and grub. I love that they have no cares in the world....it's kind of the point.
So the first day of August brought napping in the dresser drawer - I left it open when I went downstairs to get another load of laundry to put away...
Once Phoebe was done, Zoey had a turn....
The sleepy hedgehog awoke early in the evening which is unusual.....
And.... he was in a fantastic mood....
Checking out the camera.....
And posing like a ham....
Clooney the super model posed for his pic of the day.....
Emma "I don't like my picture taken anymore" was forced into it....
Ollie was Chillaxin in the guest room
And Aggie - MIA from camera shots today.....
