Well - the results are in - the good news is that the number continues to come down....the bad news is it's still too high. If you will recall we started with an elevated ALT level of 297. We had her tested after one month on the Denamarin and it brought it down to 212. After more Denamarin, the removal of any access to cat food and a bit of hepatic dog food her number was 186. We are moving in the right direction - wow - its slow.
From a diagnostic perspective, the vet is suggesting that we do an ultrasound to determine if there is something structurally wrong with her liver. I have asked if he thinks it would be okay to try a Milk Thistle supplement for a month to see what that does to the number. After a good bit of research I have found several sources that show good results using Milk Thistle. I just want to be sure that we are not jeopardizing her health in any way by waiting.
Normal is 18 - 121 so it doesn't seem to me that we are critically high. Hopefully this next round will get here where she is supposed to be....
