The White Ferret

Cripes - I went to the pet store a couple of weeks ago only to find the cutest white ferret.  Not only was he cute but he was so mellow.  I have looked at 52 ferrets since we got Clooney and I can't find one who is a match in his temperament.  So - I thought about the white ferret all week while I traveled on business and when I returned I went back to the pet store hoping against hope that someone had adopted him.  No such luck.

I got him out again and talked to the pet store lady and concluded and even though he was an adorable white ferret there were some issues that made it not a great fit.  First - he has a heart murmur.  This on its own is not a huge deal but it does make the little guy un-insurable.  Second - he was much more awake than the last time I saw him and while he was still mellow and sweet - he is going to be a chewer - a common thing for ferrets and luckily something we do not have to deal with at all with Clooney.

So - long story short - I don't think he is the right ferret playmate for Clooney.  Hubs is happy as he wants no more animals.  Someday maybe I will come across a baby like my Cloon-ster.....

Business Travel

Earlier this month I had to travel for work.  This is a very rare thing and it left the hubs in charge of caring for the critters for me.  I will say it was much less stressful leaving knowing he would be here to make sure they were all okay and had everything they need.

Upon my return I was greeted by Emma, Clooney and the kitties.  Nigel gave me some hedgie cuddles when I got him out of the cage and ate up some of his worms which he wasn't loving when he got them from the hubs.  I missed them while I was gone and I think they might have missed me too....

Squirrel Patrol

The squirrels have a nest in our tree in the backyard.  Ollie loves to lay in the window sill and watch the squirrel antics.  It's tough to see but if you look in the upper right part of the grass there is a squirrel there that Mr Kitty is watching intently.  He loves to watch out the screen door in the front as well - there he can see the hummingbirds as they visit the feeders, the lizards (skinks) that sun themselves on the porch and the wrens who visit the old house finch nest.  He occasionally gets a glimpse of the dog across the street and the stray cat that visits our neighbor across the way.  Oh the life of a kitty....

Complete Sack Out

Phoebe loves the top spot on the cat tree and she plays and sleeps up there often.  She was so sleepy she didn't even stir when I snapped these shots - even though the flash went off.

Nightly Rituals

Each night the ritual is pretty much the around here - it goes something like this:

Take Emma out for a last potty break and bring her in for bed

Kitties - various play time with them - throw the ball for Phoebe, wrestle with Oliver, love on Aggie and jockey for position in the bed with Zoey

Nigel - check in on him to make sure he is nice and warm and make sure he gets his worms

Clooney - the challenge can be locating the little critter - sometimes he throws me into a panic where I can't find him - he gets loves and wrestles and pets

Then everyone settles in for the night - Nigel in his cage, Clooney in the hubby's closet, Emma under the bed and kitties in various places - usually on the bed or on the cat tree.

My Elves

September - this means its the start of Christmas crafting - groan.....I know I know.  I have elves to "help" me - oh lucky me.  Thankfully the three girl kitties are pretty mellow - Zoey hung out downstairs, and Aggie and Phoebe just lay on my stuff but otherwise don't cause havoc.

Luckily for me the head elf - Clooney - was sleeping - he is into everything - pulling things out of bags, stealing supplies and generally causing a commotion.  Today - he had a stand in - Mr Kitty - Oliver the Ornery.  These are some shots of him on the cat tree after he got hollered at for his naughtiness.  Wow - some days....

I do love my helpers - even when they are ornery.  Makes project more fun and exciting right?
