Month In Review

November - overall - a fairly quiet month for the critters which is just fine with us as October was so stressful.  We are about a month out from Zoey's major illness.  So far so good.  I worry about her every day - not sure we are doing the right things by sparing her the surgery - most days I think we are but sometimes I question.  She seems very happy, active and all in all pretty stable.  She has adjusted well to her dietary changes and to her supplement that she gets every day that is supposed to help in slowing the growth of tumors.

Phoebe is doing well.  She is so stressed when we have the pet sitter come - she hides.  Luckily I was able to find her on the cameras.  Oliver is his regular ornery self - a lovely sweet boy who likes to cause trouble.  Aggie got over whatever made her ill right before we left for the lake and she seems to be doing great.

Emma had fun at the lake.  She struggles with the new canned dog food - she absolutely loves it but it really does not agree with her at all.  She is more tolerant of the camera these days.  I will say her new naughty thing of putting her front feet on the table and getting the wet cat food from the table is something I could do without.

The little boys are well - trip to the lake seemed to make them closer to friends.  Nigel is still just a go with the flow critter.  Clooney seems to be doing well and is full of his regular antics.

I am thankful for my babies - worried that Zoey is not okay and may not be with me for as long as I would like (forever) so I am trying to enjoy every day with her and my other furries.  You just never know.  I am hopeful she will be one of those who beats the odds - surprises us all with her spunk.  Seems like you can't be bitchy kitty for so many years without having a major fighter inside....

Friendship

Interesting things happened while at the lake....we have made some progress on the Clooney/Nigel friendship.  The boys spent lots of time together - sometimes in the confines of the pen and other times in the bedroom with a little more freedom to run around.

They spent lots of time sleeping - sharing the soft green Christmas blanket Nigel uses in his cage.  I don't know if Nigel realized that they were that close together - with just a piece of fleece between them.  Both the little ones are most active at night.  They spent lots of time interacting.

One episode - I could hear Nigel huffing and huffing.  Decided I needed to intervene.  So - into the bathroom I go to find Clooney has Nigel cornered where the toilet is.  Interesting thing is that Nigel was making lots of noise but no quills were up - he was in a very calm stance - I think they might have been playing.  I picked Nigel up to see if he was okay and his little legs were going a zillion miles an hour - he wanted down!  Put him down and he ran right back over to where Clooney was.

Not sure I would call them friends yet - but we did make some progress!!

Does This Count as Back Seat Driving

Hubs has a helper - an furry navigation system....  Clooney was helping him drive us home from the lake after he figured out how to unzip his carrier:

Emma the Pretty Girl

She's a little nervous on the boat - nervous enough that she forgets that she hates the camera.  I got some great shots of her on the boat.  The many faces of Emma:

Black Friday

No shopping for us - just some boating and cooking over the fire.  Emma's having a good time - she's nervous on the boat but she doesn't want to be left behind either:

Little boys are doing well - hanging out together and sleeping lots...

Turkey Day

Happy Thanksgiving!  The critters are spending the day apart.  We have 3 with us at the lake - Emma, Nigel and Clooney.  The kitties are back at the house with a pet sitter checking in on them.

The things I am thankful for - an awesome hubby, my crazy critters, Phoebe's lump being no big deal, Zoey's new found health and energy and a great job with an awesome team and boss.

Nigel and Clooney have been sharing their pen at the lake house - maybe they will come out of this as friends?

Emma spent some time with us on this lovely Thanksgiving afternoon on the boat....

Hit By A Bus Series - Dietary Update

So - we have done some significant dietary updates for the critter since Zoey got sick.  Thought I would document for the Hit By A Bus Series, well.....in case I get hit by a bus.

For the kitties - they are getting 1 can of Nature's Variety cat food divided into four portions.  They like Venison and Chicken.  They also like Lamb and Duck - they are not so hot on Rabbit.  They are also on the Nature's Variety Chicken dry food which I let them free feed on in their feeder.

Zoey gets one C-CAP supplement in 1/4 of a can of ID cat food each day (currently located in the master bath).  I close her in the bathroom and let her eat it undisturbed.  If the other kitties get the left overs its not an issue since its all natural.

Emma - she is on the Nature's Variety chicken dry dog food - free feed in her feeder.  She is eating one can of Nature's Variety Prairie Chicken and Brown Rice in the morning and 4 medallions of the Nature's Variety frozen meat - either chicken or beef.  Those I take out to thaw in the morning and put in her bowl mid afternoon.

Clooney - he is still transitioning to the Nature's Variety dry cat food.  He usually eats a mix of the old Iams cat food and the new Nature's Variety chicken.  Need to make sure he is actually eating if the Iams is not in there.  He still gets is tablespoon of Ferretone and his Ferret Chew Stick each day.

Nigel - he is still eating the ferret food.  He gets 2 dried crickets and 3 or 4 dried meal worms each day.

I have the canned cat food and canned dog food set up on recurring order with MrChewy.com.  I do not have the dry set up as of the time I type this.  I get the medallions for Emma from PetMania by the Harris Teeter.

Scary moment

Cripes - as if Phoebe's lump, Nigel's nose and Zoey's near death experience wasn't enough - Aggie was super sick today.  Poor girl - throwing up like crazy.  The good news is that she seems to be just fine - she has eaten since and held that down just fine.  She is playing and purring and meowing at us to give her pets.  Nothing like what happened with Zoey thank goodness.  I will be watching her closely over the next few days to make sure she is okay.  Fingers crossed.

Sleepy Girl Kitties

The girls were sprawled out on the bed today:

Do you think the arch enemies Phoebe and Aggie realized they were sleeping inches apart??  :)
