Thundershirt to the Rescue

Emma likes to scratch - not like she is itchy and scratching herself....she scratches the carpet.  It makes me nuts.  It's a nesting thing I think or another of her neurosis - not sure.  Pretty sure its not a medical related thing.  Vet thought perhaps she had a skin condition but we have pretty much ruled that out.

Today after the 85th time yelling at the dog I decided in desperation I would resurrect the thundershirt we bought for her some time back.  Its this funky shirt that wraps tightly around the dog and is supposed to calm them.  It works okay for thunder - thought it was worth a try for scratching.  Low and behold - she has had it on for a few hours now and has only been hollered at one time for scratching.  Hallelujah!

Here is a snap of her in her shirt.  Rest assured - the look of angst is over the camera and not the shirt itself.  If there is one thing this dog loves its clothes - she has shirts and scarfs and hats - she was all to happy to hop right into her thundershirt....

We will see how long it lasts - keep your fingers crossed for me.....
