The More People I Know - the More I Love My Critters

Ah - the day after....what a telling day.  I am not please with the results but have tried to keep my comments to myself.  In the times we live in - the social media times - the total information saturation times....people's true colors shine through.  These are the days that I adore my critters even more than usual.  These are the days where I would be most at peace if I lived in a place where access to humans was limited - only my husband, my brother and a few close friends and my critters -- ah what bliss.

Today has been filled with snarky and ungracious "winners" and whining and obnoxious "losers".  Myself - I have come to the conclusion that we as a nation have spent billions and billions of dollars on campaigns that have further divided the nation to have the government just as broken and corrupt and ineffective as it was last week.  Not sure anyone actually wins with that.  I have determined for my sanity - I need to get to place of not caring.  I have decided to take a hiatus - from FB, Twitter, exposure to the media.  Only the blog will continue and for no other reason that it brings me joy to document the daily occurrences and look back on them at a later time.

Maybe soon I will feel better or different or more hopeful.  Perhaps not - perhaps I must find a new normal.  For now I will take the cuddles and kisses and smiles brought by the critters and take comfort in the fact that they are happy and healthy and safe.

Election Day

I voted.  Wouldn't it be great if all my critters could vote - I could almost sway the state!  :)

Critters are doing well today - in particular Miss Madison has been active all day.  She has been playing with Clooney, Oliver and me for the bulk of the morning - I love it when she's like this!!

Its cloudy here today - this makes all the critters and the humans a bit slower and sleepier.  Emma is under the bed, kitties are sprawled in various locations and ferrets and Nigel are sacked out.  Now we wait - spending the long night waiting for the returns and hoping for the outcome we want.  My fingers and toes are crossed.....

Happy Birthday Miss Madison - the big 1 year old today!

Monday, Monday....

Where do the weekends go?  How is it already Monday?  Cripes....  of course - my critter chores did not get done this weekend....I will have to squeeze them into my monumental list of To Do's for today I guess.  Nigel's cage is pretty grubby and the cat box....ugh....the cat box.

Critters are all up and about this morning - they don't care about the time change - they got up EARLY....it will take a bit for all of us to adjust I guess.  Emma seems to be doing pretty well with her skin issues - she did get a bath on Saturday with her special shampoo.  Madison got her nails clipped and the ferrets and the kitties got brushed.  That was about it for critter maintenance accomplishments.

Falling Back

I so hate the time change...ick.  The critters most definitely do not get the idea of an extra hour of sleep.  Nigel was up running on his wheel bright and early.  Kitties were all over me in the bed this morning.  Mr. Clooney was up on the bed trying to get me to go downstairs to get his stick - he was an hour earlier than normal.  Only Miss Madison was sleeping in because its cloudy and she is definitely not a morning critter....

I don't like it dark in the mornings and dark when you get off work - its my personal opinion we should stay on DST year round....no one asked me though so.....

Emma had a bath last night with her special medicated shampoo.  Kitties and ferrets have been combed with the fine tooth comb to make sure no sand fleas are lurking - so far I haven't seen a one.

Nigel is going to get a cage clean out today....litter boxes always need scooped around here....on to the critter chores....

Embroidery Monster

Oooohhhh boy - I have created a monster....  I am so loving my new embroidery sewing machine that I have thought up 479 projects - many of them having to do with the critters.  So far I have come up the following long list of critter related ideas:

  • Personalized collar for Emma
  • Personalized leash for Emma
  • Beds for Emma and Kitties
  • Blankets for Ferrets and Nigel
  • Personalized stocking for Madison
  • Personalized scarves for Emma
  • Mats for under the food bowls
  • Towels for baths
  • Cage redo for Nigel with these CUTE hedgehog patterns I found
Oh goodness - I could go on and on and on....stop the insanity.....

2:56 am

Ugh - critters are wild tonight....I think all the snoozing during the super cloudy days of Sandy has made them restless.  At 2:56 Clooney woke me.  I can't be mad at him - he was playing and trying to be independent - he was just noisy.  I laid there for a bit but could not go back to sleep....

Downstairs I went - on the couch.  Zoey, Oliver and Phoebe were WILD - racing through the living room chasing each other, tackling, jumping on the couch and on me....

Then Madison came down to see what the commotion was and climbed on the couch and played under my blanket....

Add a bit of carpet scratching by Emma....

Only Aggie and Nigel were innocent.  It has the makings of a long Friday....

It Only Takes a Photo Contest

So - in yesterday's post I was not all that in to the Halloween scene this year....all it takes is a photo contest and I have the instant motivation to show off my babies....
