The Magic Staircase

My children are freaks about the magic staircase - aka the pull down ladder that goes to the attic.  They all try to climb - only Zoey and Oliver have ever made it to the top.  The other kitties have tried.  Clooney the ferret has tried.  Even Emma has tried.  Nigel - doesn't care much what happens with the magic staircase so he doesn't really count.

I am amazed at how adept the cats are at climbing the ladder - the rungs are pretty far apart.  They have the same reaction to the step ladder.  Let me just say that when you are on the top step changing a light bulb it is not all that helpful to have Oliver and Zoey on the top step with you, Phoebe on the second step and Emma waiting at the bottom - such lovely helpers.

For the record - the critters are not allowed in the attic - insulation for them to get in to and way to hot for them. They end up getting closed in the bedroom while attic activities occur.  They when they are freed Oliver sits in the hallway looking at the door - willing it to open.
